Itinerary

  • Welcome to Guatemala! Your private transfer from Guatemala City Airport will take you to your hotel in the city center. Enjoy a relaxing evening exploring the town and trying some local cuisine. Exciting adventures await you tomorrow!

  • Wake up to enjoy a traditional Guatemalan breakfast. Today you will visit your local host's chocolate factory in Guatemala City. You will learn all about the local cacao supply chain and the process it goes through for transforming into world class chocolate in the hands of experts. After your visit, you will begin your travels from Guatemala City to the city of Coban in Alta Verapaz. You will stop for lunch at an orchid sanctuary and will enjoy a scenic drive through landscapes of tropical and clouded forest. The drive will be from 5 to 6 hours. Free evening.

  • Venture on an eye-opening journey into the heart of Cahábon, a Q'eqchí community where you'll gain a deeper understanding of the complex history and culture of Guatemala. Your local hosts and guide will lead you through the town, where you'll witness the resilience and strength of a community that has endured the impact of a long civil war. As you delve deeper into this village, you'll visit a community association of farmers and explore the lush cacao plantations. Discover the secrets of cacao production from bean to bar and learn about its powerful potential to address social issues such as irregular migration and poverty. Fuel up with a delicious rustic lunch prepared by the association members before embarking on a picturesque journey to the charming town of Lanquin. Prepare for a glamping adventure in the forest and unwind with a relaxing evening by the campfire or indulge in drinks by the hotel pool.

  • Today you will make your way from Lanquin to the neighboring Semuc Champey Natural Monument. This magical natural wonder is made of a series of turquoise pools, cascading down limestone terraces that have been formed by the Cahabon River. The water is so clear that you can see the bottom of the pools, which are surrounded by lush vegetation and towering mountains. You'll be able to swim in the crystal-clear waters, hike through the surrounding jungle, and enjoy breathtaking views of the area from the viewpoint. After the visit, you'll have the option of going river tubing or exploring the K'anba caves.

  • Visit a regenerative center focused on agroecology, education and permaculture. This one-of-a-kind farm is a true marvel, flourishing in the production of cacao, turmeric, and other crops. But it's not just their farming techniques that make them special - it's their unwavering commitment to the local community. With a range of impactful educational programs and employment opportunities, this farm is making a real difference. During your visit, you'll get an up-close look at the artisanal cacao processing techniques that have been passed down through generations. Savor a rustic local lunch made from fresh ingredients grown on the farm, and be sure to take some time to explore the verdant landscape around you. As the day draws to a close, prepare to travel to the Candelaria Caves. Free evening at the hotel.

  • Make your way from your hotel to another unique natural wonder- Lachua Lagoon. This serene and crystal-clear lake boasts up to 30 different colored species of fish and is a sacred site for the Maya Q'eqchi' people, used for centuries for ceremonial purposes. Explore the diverse flora and fauna of the forest on a scenic hike, where you'll encounter rare bird species, howler monkeys, and toucans. The bright turquoise water reflects the vibrant greenery that surrounds it, creating a picture-perfect setting that will take your breath away. After an awe-inspiring day, return to your hotel in Candelaria for a peaceful evening.

  • Today, take a break from the hustle and bustle of the tour and enjoy a day at your leisure in the enchanting Candelaria region. Take a stroll from your hotel and delve into the mystifying natural wonder of the Candelaria Caves, an extensive karst cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites. These caves hold immense cultural significance for the Maya people, who believe that they are the gateway to the underworld, Xibalbá. During the classic Maya period, the caves served as a vital trading route, and remnants of ancient ceremonies and artifacts can still be found within. Soak up the peaceful atmosphere and wonder of this magical place, or simply unwind and relax in the serene gardens of your hotel. The choice is yours.

  • It's time to bid farewell to the lush and vibrant forests of the Verapaces and head towards the country's enchanting highlands. Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a scenic 6 to 7 hour drive to Antigua Guatemala. Along the way, you'll make stops for restroom breaks and to have lunch. As you arrive in Antigua, be prepared to be transported to another time and place. This charming colonial town is known for its colorful streets, awe-inspiring architecture, and rich cultural heritage. Take your time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage site at your leisure and soak in the magic of its cobbled streets and stunning views of the surrounding volcanoes.

  • Today you'll experience the power and spirit of cacao in an intimate ceremony. This sacred drink will be your tool for calming the mind and enlightenment. It will also facilitate a deep connection with oneself and with your surroundings. The ceremony will incorporate music, meditation and will leave you full of gratitude, tranquility and clarity.
